Here's a few of the SMC Takumar 50/1.4 I snapped just yesterday. You can see some from the "Super Takumar 50/1.4" here if you'd like:

Almost all of these SMC 50/1.4 images are shot wide open but one or maybe 2 were stopped down a bit:

On my LCD they look oversharpened. But that's the downside of LCD monitors, they amplify sharpening.
On my CRT however, they look perfect. Also, based on my experiences, the average LCD is not accurate in this way. |

4 and 6 are the only two I stopped down I think.

Nope, all hand-held. At f/1.4 none of these went below 1/250 I think - with the majority probably up around 1/2000. So I didn't need a pod. But I'm certainly not pod-shy! I dig pods and have been known to carry many extra pounds over multiple day excursions just for the support and to avoid the higher ISOs. I even carried one up to the top Mt. Fuji no too long ago.

What ARE you talking about?
Ivan Lee wrote: |

Yeah, could be I guess. The lens certainly doesn't need more than the most minimal amount of sharpening - that's for sure! And none at all by the time it gets to f/2.0 or so.
Thanks for all the comments guys! Your time is appreciated!

Great pictures, they dont look over sharpen on my LCD, must be one of those things that vary.
Out of curiosity, which version of the Takumar is this? The metal ring super-multi-coated labeled one? |
