Anybody know what this might be?

It is advertised by a seller as:

Vintage Federal Anastigmat 3.5" f:6.3 - 32 Enlarger Lens No. 1265 with extras

but that is an enlarger lens with the sale. Seller has no knowledge of the the thing other than to say it was his fathers and might be related to astrophotography.

WOW! Now that mount looks like may be for 4x5 camera. Is that other thing a telescopic microscope eyepiece? Laughing

I have NO idea but likely not a microscope since miniscule movements are used for focus, and that helical groove is inches long.

Long focal lengths need larger movements?

Looking at the numbers round it, it looks like an eyepiece, the numbers being dioptre correction, the small size of the lenses definitely suggest eyepieces. The paint job and heavy construction would suggest military. The thing it fits into to focus is missing, maybe its a gunsight or something

Looks military to me. Some kind of bomb sight?

The lens is an enlarging lens apparently https://www.ebay.com/itm/324753458097

EDSCORP = Edmund Scientific

Best guess is it's probably a rangefinding unit that is missing the outer tube.
Only way to find out for sure would be to buy it, and check for a scaled reticle.
Looks to be re-painted to my eye, but the rough edges under the paint could be soviet com-block mfr...
The chromed eye-pieces and Kodak close up filter are probably not related to it.

I think it may be an optical sight for an artillery piece.
The military paint seems to indicate military use

I think I brought this lens just few weeks ago. I can't see any other accessories around. That's what I got in the picture, just the lens only. Do anyone know where can I get the box?

No idea about the box but do you by chance know its original purpose? I'm still curious and my friends speculation seems good but no seemed to know for sur3.
