I have collected two samples of Steinheil Auto-D-Tele-Quinar 3.5/135mm over time. Both lenses do not open fully wide but aperture at F3.5 is little bit closed by default.
Aperture being healthy. Comparing photos of mine bellow:

To Steinheil 2.8/135mm found on net i have reason to believe it is the same lens design with only difference F3.5 version does not fully open. Any info regarding that?

The aperture of the Auto-D-Quinar Quinar 3.5/100 behave similarly. I think this 3.5 lens is different to the 2.8 version as the size of the front element is smaller.

P.S. The arm of these lens is pretty fragile. One of my Auto-D-Quinar Quinar 3.5/100 has a broken arm which render it stuck at wide open. Sad

Do you have the info on front element diameter of 2.8/135mm perhaps? Thanks for warning on arm fragility. Auto-D-Quinar 3.5/100 uh that is some rare lens!

No idea. What I know is the 2.8 version use 54mm filter and the 2.5 version use 49mm filter.

same case with my Steinheil tele exaktar exakta mount 100/3,5, I got it without arm, looks like previous owner removed it. blades sometime normal sometimes doesn't open fully.
I have steinheil auto D tele quinar 135/2,8 in M42, so no arm, blades works nice.
also I have Tele quinar 135/3,5 in M39 braun. I dont know about the scheme design, somehow I like 135/3,5 in silver m39 more
