5Dc iso 1600, lenses wide open for 16 seconds. Note: 5Dc mirror does not hit M42 SMC 1.4/50 at infinity, but does hit S-M-C 1.4/50!

100% crops (actual pixels), first 50mm then 55mm.

Interesting test, especially with the full-frame sensor.

Usually, for astroimaging, wider angle lenses like this need to be stopped down to f/2.8, or even f/4. My usual goal is to find lenses that are good for astro at f/2.8. It would be great to find one that would work at f/2 -- probably something like an 85mm lens, though.

Someday I'll get around to astro-testing out the 50's I have. I'll do tests on a clear night with a bright moon, so as not to waste a good imaging night.
