I would not thinking on giving it a nine,
The only good thing about it was that I bought for 50,- and sold it for 100.
Good lens with sunlight and sun in the back otherwise terrible.
Problems with Flare and CA, wel build and good balance.

Hi!
It is important to hear such experiences like yours.
These tests are interesting but rather tell something about lab conditions... _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

I have a Novoflex 40cm it has only two lens, but incredible sharp , it has very nice bokeh and focusing fast as hell. Easy to transport because you can split into two piece easily. _________________ -------------------------------

Looks like they were a little generous...
For a 400mm to really deserve anything above 8/10, it's gotta be really good, and probably expensive.
but it does give you some kind of comparison between all of them...weird that the novoflex beats the Pentax-A ..

I could not agree More. I am on my third Sigma 400 APO. First was Minolta AF and was only used on bright sunny days now and again so didn't seem too bad. Then I went Pentax and got a PKA MF one, by then I was doing more wildlife photographs and it was useless. Thinking I may have just had a bad one I used the money I got for it to buy this third one. Just as bad. IT IS A RUBBISH LENS. 9.6 is a joke. AS for the Tokina f5.6 400mm I tried one (Only one) of those. Just as soft as the Sigma and really bad CA on every shot. I don't think you take notice of any magazine tests unless they show the figures and performance graphs. Even test photos aren't a very good guide.
Anybody want to offer me ?70 for a Sigma f5.6 400mm APO. They go for ?100-150 on eBay?
PS I know what a a good performing 400mm is. It's called a EBC Fujinon T f4.5 400mm. I would give that a my own 9.6 or by the magazines standard I would give it a 20 as it is easy twice as good as the Sigma or Tokina 400mm _________________ Pentax K10D & K100D.
