Does anyone know anything about the Soligor C/D MC 3.5-4.5 Zoom+Macro 35-200mm (for Fujica X mount)?
Serial number is 884602573

I just got it together with some Fujinon lenses for Fujica X-mount and can't find any information about it. I only find the Soligor 35-200 3.8-5.3...My Fujinon-Nex Adapter is on its way, so I can't post photos yet. I'm not sure if I should keep it...I'm sure it will break the lens mount of my Nex in a moment of inattention.... Rolling Eyes

That's the lens:
#1

#2

#3

The 'CD' range of Soligors was their top range, competition to Vivitar's Series 1, and mostly very decent lenses. I have the 70-210 3.5 zoom in the CD Series and it's excellent, my 35 2.8 is also very good.
It's a certainly a lens I would try rather than just get rid of, it might surprise you.

Sounds good! I'm really curious about trying it...but the Fujinon X mount seems to be rather uncommon ...

What serial number please?

PostPosted: Wed Nov 28, 2012 4:47 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

It will be worth pretty much nothing due to Fuji x mount so it's worth keeping it if it's a good performer.

Huh, #8 is a mystery. Made in 1984. Could you post photos of DOF scale and focusing lettering so that style can be seen or any other interesting difference.

Here you go. Just found the Soligor serial number thread. hm. mysterious number 8...

looking inside

what is this? Shocked Fungus ...or is this glue or grout coming off..?

well, I'm going to keep that lens anyway I guess...

Well, I was sure this lens would not be worth much anyway...
Just found some other 3.5-4.5 35-200 Soligors, which all seem to be made by the manufacturer that is behind serial number 88###...

This is a pretty nice zoom lens, definitely one of the better old zooms. You will find some example photos in this forum which I shot with my copy of this lens.

I had one soligor CD lens back in the 80's but got rid of it immediately as the multicoatings were inferior
to Pentax SMC coatings. too much flare.

my X-mount adapter arrived yesterday...will make some test shots this weekend. I'm not expecting much, but maybe I will be surprised Wink

Hi - which adapter did you buy, and does it work properly? We bought a very early one which focuses WAY beyond infinity and doesn't stop the diaphragm down, so we've had to modify it to fix these problems. Hopefully the newer ones are OK.

I consider this a Kobori manufactured lens. The compact focus scale is characteristic of two Kobori made zooms I own.

I'd agree with that, it does have a lot of similarity to the two Kobori / Vivitar zooms I've got.

Hey, I've got a Kiwi fotos adapter which is working quite good. Focussing stops at infinity, like it should. But you still need to fix the aperture lever on the lens itself. I fixed it with cut down tubes of a Q-tip and its working pretty good.
One thing that isn not working properly at all with my adapter is the lens release mechanism. I always need to push it manually when mounting a lens so the little pin would snap into the lens mount...

and here comes a comparisson at 35mm between the Soligor C/D 35-200 and a Zeiss Flektogon 35 / 2.8 (Zebra)...its the only other 35mm lens I own beside a Rokkor 35 / 1.8, but I figured out the Zeiss is sharper than the Rokkor so I took it for the comparisson...Don't know if it makes sense, but I played around with it now, so here are the results Wink

Soligor @f3.5

Zeiss @f3.5

Solgior@f5.6

Zeiss @f5.6

Soligor @f8

Zeiss @f8

@f3.5 center @ 100%

Soligor @f3.5 center 100%

Zeiss @f3.5 center 100%

@f3.5 in the top right corner @ 100%

Soligor @f3.5 100%

Zeiss @f3.5 100%

@f5.6 in the top left corner @ 100%

Soligor @f5.6 100%

Zeiss@f5.6 100%

It is almost certainly a rebadged Tokina SD 35-200mm macro, designed and made by Tokina.

The Soligor is no disgrace. I'd rate that as being a very usable lens.

Ours was also a Kiwi, so I guess they've fixed the infinity issue. For the diaphragm, I used a self-adhesive rubber stopper attached inside the adapter, which works for all lenses.
