Got little brother of 50/1.4 version. No problems on infinity with Lens Turbo.

I love the 55mm f2 version of this lens. Renders really nicely.
I acquired the 55mm f1.8 after finding out here that they are the exact same lens, just the f2's aperture stop was set half a stop less than the 1.8, that is the only difference.
I have yet to try my 55mm f1.8 copy yet...despite acquiring it a few years ago. This has reminded me that I really should dig it out and have a play.
Thank you.

The oof areas remind me of Double-Gauss. Very smooth and creamy.

Very nice! So sharp too. I have just bought the prior version of this lens (a late Super-Multi-Coated w/ open-aperture metering) and look forward to trying it on a Pentax ES.
Many reviewers say the 50/1.4 lenses are always better - but I'm not so sure. F1.4 always suffer a fair bit of spherical aberration wide open, giving a detailed but low-contrast image.

Very nice lens indeed, one of my favorites. Interesting how the evening sky looks in your photos; it immediately made me think of my own photos with this lens. I don't know if it is the glass or the coatings, but I like it!

IMHO, the 55/1.8 is an excellent lens
While the 50/1.4 is the one that gets all the attention, I find this gem to be sharper and to have better color rendering
