Found this one for cheap at the bay. I didn't really know what to expect but the build quality is quite nice. It has a solid all metal barrel and the throw is long and smooth. Soft wide-open, but not as bad as the Mitake clones. Very sharp if you stop it down a little.

The lens itself looks great! Do you have some samples of what it can do?

It's a very impressive lens. The YS mount allows use on any camera . . with the proper adapter.

This page, from a Scalematic instruction manual currently for sale on eBay, is interesting:

It certainly does! I have the 4/200 from this series.

The glass is impeccable! I took some mundane pictures around the house this morning (*cough* cat pictures *cough*) but I'll take it out this weekend and post some samples.

Interesting. Did anyone here actually shoot one of these lenses in the late 70s?

Very nice! I don't think I've ever seen samples from this lens. How do you like it?

I purchased and used the lens with MD-adapter when it was just coming on the market.
I have got an M42 adapter later. I don't use the lens often anymore as it is big and heavy, but when I need the speed in a theatre or so it comes from the shelf.
Soft WO, but that is not always a drawback for me.

The Sigma XQ series appear to have been the first serious attempt of Sigma to reach the world market. I have the fisheye lens 16mm F2.8 XQ Filtermatic, and in my opionion it is optically and mechanically excellent.

Regarding the 135mm F1.8 lens. A classic 135 F2.8 lens of good quality has five optical elements, while the exceptional ones have 6. So I suppose the Sigma 135mm F2.8 should be decent wide open, and above average from F2.8 on.

This sucker IS heavy but the barrel is pretty compact for a 135/1.8.

Thank you for posting this! I had seen a few pages of this pamphlet but not the whole thing. I shot a few frames this morning and the lens does give a very unique rendering.
