Shift lens + Tilt adapter = TS lens?

I've won an audition for this lovely Zuiko 35mm f2.8 Shift lens for just $88

Is there anyone has experience with this lens? I read that it's as sharp as Zeiss and have a quick shift control. Is it the version 2 with multicoating and how is it compared to FD 35/2.8 TS?

Anyway, I'm really excited to get it with that price Laughing

One important question is whether it worthy to combine it with a tilt adapter? I have M42- E mount tilt adapter and it works well for my M42 lenses (the photo below I used Helios 44-2 with tilt adapter, on NEX-6) and I may get the EOS - E mount tilt adapter and put this lens on with the OM-EOS adapter. Would it make a completed TS lens? I searched but didn't find anyone came up with that option, so I'm really curious.

Congrats.
That was very cheap Smile and MC version too..

I have both this and the distagon 35 pc. Image-quality-wise, it is close to the zeiss, but lighter, easier to shift, while zeiss has better build.
If you use it on a tilt adapter on sony A7, it becomes a TS lens. I have several tilt adapter for TS uses.

Be sure that you get a good tilt adapter. Adapter on adapter will give some play and will affect the image taking process.

Another good thing is OM lenses can easily adapt with canon 5d/5d2

Theoretically the result is a T/S lens, but the shift lens only has coverage for shift. That's why most likely you won't be able to use the tilt and shift combined on FF, only on ApsC.

Awesome! Thanks to both of you, that's great to know. One thing I noticed is using tilt adapter, the OOF is not as good as using TS lens so I thought that TS lens is designed to minimize the distortion and other negative effects when the lens is tilted, but I don't think much about the covering area. This lens is small, and what tempted me is the ease to shift, which is not a nice experience with the Samyang TS 24mm.

I will find a good adapter for it and hope that it can cover most of the full frame sensor, but otherwise I still can use it on other APS-C bodies.

I've got all the adapters, they work well with the lens Very Happy

Just a quick test, I will go out to take more photos with this combination. My first impression is the lens is pretty sharp from wide open and it's very easy to shift, as mentioned in all the reviews. In combination with the Fotga Tilt adapter, it's very flexible and easy to do both tilt and shift, but the accuracy is not as good as a real TS lens (when I want to shoot it as a normal 35mm lens, I have to change the angle manually, without any fixed axis). I noticed some darken area on one side of the photo when I shifted the lens to either two sides, which is a bit darker than the Samyang TS 24mm, but not heavily and acceptable. This lens covers the APS-C sensor at all angles and positions. I will test with full frame sensor later, but the tilt function can't be used.

It maybe the best bargain I've found this year Laughing
