This is a Tessar design. A tad soft wide open (no sharpening or adjustments):

I think this was from the last generation of Schacht lenses. The barrel design is a bit over complicated and includes two sets of helicals, although you still have to turn the focus ring nearly 360 degress from stop to stop.
Probably going to sell because I want a version with an automatic aperture. I've seen several of these Travenars on ebay last year, and all of them seem to have had the automatic aperture mech removed, I'm starting to think that maybe the factory just sent them out that way. The earlier barrel versions all seem to have automatic or semi-automatic diaphragms. I thought about keeping it just for digital, but I prefer to have lenses I can use on both film or digital bodies. |
