Been a while since I took this lens out for a spin, still gets good results!

All taken wide open:

Very interesting series and one of the best pictures from this lens I've seen. The shots reminded me of the movie "Unstoppable".

I thought due they have visible difference, I like latest one too, but pre-set is sharper wide open and bokeh is better too.

Yes this lens is pretty sharp wide open if you get a good copy, it's quite beat up and dusty but it's nice and sharp. I got a pristine one a while back with the box etc but it wasn't as sharp so I sold it on.

I could do with an EVF for my Sony too as focusing on longer lenses can get a bit awkward in bright light between the shaky image and glare but I managed to get some good shots with some concentration. I should have taken a monopod though, that would have helped with the shaking when using magnified liveview.

Sometimes I think this lens definitely gives a vintage look to colours, it's hard to tell when shooting in such nice late light but compared to my Sigma AF lens I was using at the same time there seems to be something about the blues and greens with this lens that are a bit different.

Surely different most old lenses has different colors than latest ones.

Brilliant set! How did you get access to the trains?

The light looked superb and have made for some amazing colours, great work Smile

Great shots. I am always amazed at how well these Nex sensors handle all the different lenses thrown at them.

Hey sorry I had no idea more people had replied to this thread!

There is a public right of way right across the train tracks so as long as you stay on the crossing you are allowed to take photos. It's in an ideal location right between a freight depot and a steel works so you get to see trains coming and going from the depot as well as trains going between the steel works and the depot all day and the right of way goes across the main line too so lot's of action to be seen!

The location is right between a rail freight depot which handles general freight but is also connected by rail to a steel works. There is also a gas plant, you can see the tower in the background of one of the shots, it's a very interesting place with lot's to see!
