Thanks Lars! Nope, I don't think is will sufficiently cover that 36Mp sensor as this is a FF sensor
with 24x36mm needing at least 41mm image diagonal, and the Pen-F lenses are designed to cover
24x24mm with 34mm diagonal only - too bad.

Yes, but I wonder if it might be a chance that it almost cover the sensor the way C-mounts do on m43?
C-mounts are also designed to cover a much smaller area than m43, right?

I think the slower tele-lens like Pen-F 3.5/100 or 150/4 will be more likely to barely cover FF although the edge performance may not be good. The Pen-F 2/70 may show some dark corners. If you have a large ground glass(or a focus screen from a SLR), you can test the coverage of your lens without the A7.

Well, this thread turned from beautiful flowers into a technical discussion quite unrelated to my topic,
so I took my liberty to move my images into a different thread.

But I won't do that to you Lars Embarassed

Call me "too sensitive" if you like...

Thx Cal, I feel bad about ruining Klaus´s thread now so I think I´ll just open a new thread about the topic Rolling Eyes

Both of you are sensitive.
Instead of worrying the penf lenses cannot cover the FF, why dont you just use what you have, for penf lenses?
The small penf lenses and the small bodies - that's the point to get penf and small lenses, right?

Dear Hoan,

it is just human nature I guess, instead of first using what we already possess to the fullest extend,
we try to strive for the better and the more Wink

send one to me, I will sacrifice me and try them if they work on FF Wink

Some C-Mount lenses do cover FF and some FF lenses do cover 6x6 an so on so generally there could be chance of course. Easiest way to find out would be to mount one on an analog FF film camera.

When I hold the 60mm against a OM-2 camera I have, I don't see any vignetting looking true the viewfinder. Of course the register distance will not be correct (to long), but do the coverage change if the lens is closer to the sensor? And, is what I see true the viewfinder on this camera 100? Surprised

Dark corner will be more prominent at infinity than close distance.

Thx for sharing the link! Not bad really, and longer lenses are probably even better. Very Happy
Vignetting is similar to a 25mm C-mount on m43.

I have three 20, 25 and 42. I expect the 42/1.2 to cover the frame, based on hearsay, but not the wider ones. I'll be able to post samples at some point if you are interested, FF body coming around 12/1

Do that! My copy may also show up around the same period Wink

I can confirm that the 60mm f/1.5 covers FF nicely Very Happy

I will post samples later from the A7R.
The 20mm vignettes pretty much. I have not tested the 42mm f/1.2 yet, but my guess is little or none vignetting from 42mm and up.

20mm f/3.5 vignettes heavy
38mm f/1.8 vignettes just slightly when focus is far (not mechanical)
40mm f/1.4 vignettes mechanical when focus is far, it is ok when focus is near.
42mm f/1.2 vignettes mechanical when focus is far, it is ok when focus is near.
60mm f/1.5 is ok
70mm f/2 is ok
100mm f/3.5 is ok or just a tiny slight fall off in the corners

a while ago I had made a flickr group dedicated to Pen-F lenses, please anyone join and share your photos. It has been a long while, just now I checked submitted photos and saw that there are stunning samples of photos taken on Sony A7 FF, specially with the 1.8/38. Often used wide open, there is vigneting, but masterfully used: https://www.flickr.com/groups/pen-f_lenses/pool/

Sebboh @ FM uses the 42/1.2 to great effect. (First 3 on A7)
