Zeissikonveb.de - usually extremely well researched and informed - states that the original computation for the Flexon (1954; applied for patent in 1956; GDR pat 16'756) was replaced by a new computation in 1960 which was sold as Pancolar. It seems that the two lenses are really similar (but not identical). Interestingly, the Flexon had its four outer (positive) lenses made from one single lanthanum glass with nD=1.66 and v=56.

Similar question is the praktica 50 1.4 same lens as the pancolor 50 1.4? _________________ A7R4, GFX50R and a bucket of mflenses |

Gohood to know that you hahave sucha rarare lelens
(SORRY i hope you don't mind, but I just had to laugh when I read you "hahave" those two lenses). Of course I look forward wo see whether you can detect any differences - or whether the lens just was simplified while keeping its performance.

There's an 1.4/55mm Pancolar, and two 1.4/50mm Practocars. Different computations indeed.
Pancolar 1.4/55mm: https://zeissikonveb.de/start/objektive/normalobjektive/pancolar-1-4.html
Prakticar 1.4/50mm (two versions with different optics!): https://zeissikonveb.de/start/objektive/normalobjektive/prakticar-1-4.html

The Pancolar is a 55mm f1.4 and the Prakticar is a 50mm f1.4 - of which I think there are two iterations.
The Prakticar is an outstanding lens, but not the same as the Pancolar
