I bought this with an old Nikon F body*, and finally got a chance to try it on a dog walk.
I really like this lens! Lovely colours, handles well, very nice close focusing distance of 30cm (!) and pretty sharp. Smile

I am falling in love with Nikkor glass I have to say.

Here are some samples:

#1

#2

3#

#4

#5

#6

It also has some lovely (controllable) flare, for that vintage look. Smile

*(Anybody want to buy it?)

I'm guessing by the lack of responses that this is old hat lens territory, or that my photos are meh. Smile

I remain enthused however, and want to build a good set of compatible Nikon lenses for video and photography.

ATM I also own a 24mm f/2.8, a 50mm f/1.4, and a 80mm f/2.
I love them all. Are there other Nikon lenses from the 60s-80s that offer that warm Pete Turner or Robby Muller (on Paris Texas) look?
Without breaking the bank that is...

Its possibly the post just fell through the "viewing crack",meaning just got lost on the day. Very Happy I always look as these old Nikkors, but have never taken the plunge so its nice to see your sample images.I do like the toys #3,nice low down perspective.

I actually think that these images are way beyond the typical "lens test" quality, and they make the lens look great. In particular, the first photo is right up my alley – I would've loved to be the photographer myself.

The images from your Nikon are very nice indeed, and you have a collection of lovely Nikon glass.
There seems to be a feeling that if it is Nikon it is going to be good, so probably there will be no surprise if the images are good - therefore no need to comment.
I have sometimes thought that if Nikon were spelled with an umlaut it might generate more interest Very Happy

Thanks guys/gals! I did not mean to fish for compliments (should have worded my post better) but am grateful nonetheless.

So, Pete Turner and the cinematography of films like Paris Texas and Koyaanisqatsi are big factors in why I even make films and enjoy photography, and it seems Nikon glass is very capable of approaching that look.

Would be great to hear about more Nikon lenses to look out for...

I bought a Nikkor N.C. f2.8 24mm last year, another excellent lens. I've only used it a little so far but the results were super, similar
to your 35, and it's certainly worth your interest. My pics are on a memory card which I can't find right now, and those that I put on the
forum have been lost, so I can't show you any examples, but there are many other threads about it.

Lol, I don't have to worry because I already have the N.C 24/2.8, O.C 35/2, and the S.C 55/1.2.

That's the one I got too. I misreported it as f2 in my earlier post, but just corrected it. Ta!

I've never had an Nikon gear, not because I don't like - I just never went that direction, and now I need another lens and camera series like a hole in the head! But Nikon obviously made a lot of great stuff, and then - someone has to use it well to get great pictures. Wink

That is an amazing lens. It's one of perhaps two or three that I regret to have sold!
