First a/i aperture indexing variant with the long prong rear element protector.

Minimum close focus distance is roughly 14"-16" from the focal plane marker.
I don't recall color rendition this accurate from the slightly faster (and much cheaper) f1.8 nikkor that I preferred with film.

Motion blurred subject. Shot close to sunset.
1/80 sec, f5.6, ISO 200.

All my recent flower photo's show wilting subjects~ rain has become a bit of a rarity around here.

I really can't find much to complain about with this lens.
It is far more versatile then I thought, especially when I give it the time and care required for reasonable images.

Kern Polarimeter rescued from trash.
The 10X scale reading loupe is a good one...
I have another photo showing the specimen tube.
About 1/2 meter or 2 1/2 feet from subject.
50mm f2 nikkor at f4 with the pop-up D-200 flash. ISO 100
Getting to be a lot of junk in this tiny apartment...

50mm f2 nikkor at f5.6, 1/80 sec, ISO 200
Minimum focus stop.

One of the best 50s made. The pre-AI version was widely used by the photo press and photojournalists in the 60s. They swore by this lens and it developed a hard core following as a result.

I have 3 of them.
One is the pre-AI version, one is a (I think) "K" conversion, and the last is the lens used above.
Serial no. sequencing is a bit odd between the suspected "K" and the pre-AI.
