I sold both lenses I had and replaced them with one 35/1.4G AF-S, which is a lens of different character (being great already wide open and at f/2). The Nikkor 35/1.4 Ai-S is in my opinion unacceptable at f/1.4 to f/2, good at f/2.8 and excellent at f/4 to f/5.6. It delivers within a narrow aperture range, and I had two copies of the lens, so it was not sample variation. I refrained from shooting it wide open to f/2 because of this, so I don't have wide open samples to share - unfortunately.

Let's open up a lens-specific discussion in the Manual Focus Lenses chapter, according to rules this is a pictures & comments only thread...

Its rather glowing at wide open, so I tend to use it at f/2 max.
And its bloody sharp! Smile

Original color straight from 5D, no PP, no sharpening, just resizing.
This is at f/2 as I remember.
