It was announced since last PMA. It is now official: Fuji and Cosina are making a new dual format (6x6 and 6x7) folding camera. Yes, a new film camera, and a medium format! It will apparently be marketed under the name "Fuji GF670" in Japan and "Voigtländer Bessa III" everywhere else. Here are the specs:

Bright frame-type viewfinder
Automatic parallax compensation
Integral LED exposure metering indications
Electronically controlled lens shutter. 4-1/500 sec, B
Exposure control: SPD Sensor
Center-weighted averaging system
Aperture priority AE and manual switchover
Exposure compensation approx 2EV in 1/3EV steps
Film speed: Manual setting, ISO25-3200 (1/3EV step accuracy)

Now I'll be setting incense for the stock market to recover...

Though of course cheap me will probably settle on an older Fuji rf mf camera...

Could be interesting, tempting even, but I still love my old Bessa II.

Shocked
That's really exciting!
I only hope they come out with a 50/55mm wide version Very Happy
A 67 folder with AE and lens shutter. Shocked That must be a first maybe not?

+2 for wide angle. NICE looking piece of equipment, with the modern bells and whistles.

That's my second choice. The 80mm Heliar comes first!

For 6x7, the only cameras that come close are the famous Plaubel Makina 67 (a metered folder but without auto exposure) and the Mamiya 7 (auto exposure but not a folder).

Cheers!

Thanks for sharing, Abbazz, looks like a dream camera to me!

It looks like the focus control is on the lens.
I think I like this. Having "played around" with a Plaubel 67.
I found the focus dial on the camera a bit awkward.
I suppose it would become natural quickly but being used to using my right hand for focus, it was weird.
Truly very exciting. Once again Mr. K shows his dedication for bringing the best of the past back into the present.
Teaming up with Fuji is simply a natural for this project. The chances for a wide model must be higher right?

Abbazz are you on the waiting list for one ?

Hurrah, finally something that perhaps can be used longer than 6 months before a trip to the repair shop (Plaubel Makina)
Yes Yes for the normal and wide versions
