Here's some shots from the wildlife part of my honeymoon, from the west coast bay area. This was a Carl Zeiss fest with the 50/1.4 Planar, 35-70mm Vario-Sonnar and 100-300mm Vario-Sonnar deployed once again Smile

(this is actually the other Point Lobos in San Francisco, but I'll include it as we stopped on the way down to Monterey).

Wonderful series!
I was in Monterey in 2004 and I really liked it.

Thanks for bringing back some fond memories!

That's a lovely series so thanks for sharing them with us. I was just thinking that if those seals were on a certain beach in Lincolnshire the seals would be surrounded - and hassled - by some very determined "wildlife photographers" more preoccupied with getting a result than enjoying the wiildlife and giving it plenty of space. As it is these animals look very relaxed.

wow! killer series, I cannot select favorites, there are too many! (or too much)
I enjoy also the oversized format

Wow, thanks for all the kind words and thankyou for looking Smile

Tikkathree - I've always wanted to visit Donna Nook, but it's incredibly sad if photographers aren't keeping their distance and are disturbing the animals Sad The sea lions here, in contrast, were very happily resting in noisy public places (piers mostly!). THey are a very noisy bunch! We were extremely lucky to get close to the young elephant seal as we were reporting back information to the park rangers.

Closeups of the sea mammals are the best!

We have all had a look at your pictures, Graham!

We really enjoyed them and my wife says this is one of the best of animal shots here Smile

I fully agree .. Wink

Great series, as the previous ones, i can almost grab that sea horse, think about it, it s taken thru glass and water...oh and the "gentle" bokeh of that Dodge, i always tie Monterey to "Tortilla flat" a novel by Stainback Smile

Bay Area is pretty photogenic. Did you make it into the city at all to shoot the buildings and historic trolleys, etc.?

Also, your lizard is a Western Fence Lizard. Pretty common and typically not overly human-skittish. Nifty looking lizards, too.

I also really like the sea lion shots. It looks like those were taken on a fairly overcast day, which can be tricky with as much light as Bay Area fog takes away. A very nice collection of good photos, as always.

Again, thanks so much for all the kind words everyone Smile I love shooting wildlife and the bay area is full of it, meaning I presented way too many photos in this thread Laughing So I didn't expect so much enthusiasm as a result Shocked

David, the bay area is indeed beautiful. Unfortunately we were only in Monterey for a couple of days, so no street shots Sad I hope to go back one day though. You were absolutely right about the weather...it was foggy the whole time Laughing

Great great series.

FYI the elephant seals are well protected when they are in town, but a bull is too big to run any risks .

One of my favourite areas for scenery and interest.
