After a not-so-recent lens-buying frenzy, I found myself with four Meyer 50's -- an Oreston f/1.8 (a favourite now) and two Domiplan f/2.8's (all zebras), and a Primotar-E f/3.5 (sticky aluminium). This Primotar, and all those I've seen pictured, has THREE control rings: focus, aperture, and... up front, an unknown, with two dots. That ring turns just enough to set either dot to the index mark. I've gargled extensively on the lens and found no mention of the dots. WHAT DO THEY MEAN???

RioRico,

The 50mm Primotar has always been a favourite of mine; I also have the "E" version with automatic diaphragm and used it to good effects. My specimen gives an old worldy look which is most suitable for women and children portraits.
