The old name Meyer Görlitz is used for a new lens - made in Germany!
But at the moment no info, it seems to be usable for portrait work. And they have a booth at Photokina 2014!

I am very keen to learn more!

Maybe Meyer Optik Goerlitz is a game! Mr. Green

I notice the word Goerlitz in the link http://www.meyer-optik-goerlitz.de/. Shouldn't it be Gorlitz?

Sehr geehrter Herr Dr. Schmitt,

Benedikt Hartmann

Verkaufsleitung D/A/CH Globell Deutschland

So there will be just ONE new lens presented at Photokina. That's all I got so far...

One lens is enough to vitalize the Meyer name if it is quality lens with proper price. Iguess they use the Meyer name because the price of the old Meyer lenses are more expensive than those marked Pentacon or Jena. Wink

I have the information that the new lens will be cheap for "Made in Germany". It is not a new Trioplan - which would be relative cheap to produce with only three spherical lenses.

Something like the Priomplan 75mm/1.9 would be a great portraiture lens, but I got no reaction on throwing the Primoplan name in our discussion Smile

http://www.schwarz-bild.de is mentioned of using a prototype. A quick scan through his images
did not reveal (to me at least) the use of a special "portrait lens" with a special signature, nor the following image ...

Interesting news, but will they sell glass using just the name (like Cosina Voigtlander), or resurrect older designs (lke Lomography)? One more thing to watch on this year's Photokina!

The lens is made in Germany, it should be in the Meyer Goerlitz spirit - whatever that means.
I suppose it to be a full manual ~70-90mm lens, image quality in terms of MTF bellow Canon EF 85 lenses.
75mm focal length would be a classic focal lenght for portrait work for 24x36mm, and not too long on 1.5/1.6 crop cameras too.
Further I think a aluminium or chrome look would be useful for marketing.

I suggest Zebra style, with lots of deep knurling. Also knobs. Deep shiny enamel.
And a tapered lens hood. With Zebra stripes.
A special short register version so it doesn't look silly on a Sony.
Man, I should be in charge of marketing.

Guess they did their homework as the market is very competitive and who wants to generate huge
losses in their books. That company is not that large and they had quite some losses a while ago,
so I assume they are rather careful in their decision making process Wink
