I feel embarrassed to always leave my M44-6 in cabinet. I shall shoot some this weekend. I love the cat one especially. Thanks for sharing.

Nice images.

Bokeh, OK.

Great contrast. The M6 has better contrast than the M7?

Till I see in the internet, it seems that it's true.

Rino.

Those are really nice. Love the cat shot and the purple flowers in the middle of the field.

I have the 44M and the 44-2... How many more of these do I have to buy? Laughing

These four:

H-44 early version (silver, 13 blades)
H-44-3 MC (the only MC version with 8 blades)
H-44-6 MC (sharp)
H-44-7 MC (sharp)

Very Happy

100% Crop. F2.8 vs F5.6

It's soft when bigger than F4, but sharp enough after F5.6

Great flowers on the first pictures!

BTW: here's the link - http://foto.pszoniak.net/porady_foto/porady/m42.pdf - to the summary of most common manual lenses - it's in Polish but as i saw in the user list we have some Polish users here Smile

Helios 44 58/2 – seria bardzo popularnych
obiektywów dostarczanych ze starszymi
Zenitami. Mają one pierścień przysłony
preselekcyjnej, co bardzo ułatwia
makrofotografię (przy użyciu pierścieni
pośrednich lub mieszka). Jest bardzo tani
i dość popularny. Wykonane nim zdjęcia
cechuje lekka dominanta o odcieniu słomkowym.
Otwarty można stosować jako
tanie „szkło” do portretu, przymknięty
zaś jest wygodny do makrofotografii.

Helios 44 58/2 – very popular batch delivered with old zenits. It has the aperture pin what makes the macro easier (using the intermediate (i hope You know what i mean) rings or bellows. It's very cheap and popular. Photos made using this lens are a little bit straw-coloured/pale yellow. With aperture opened it can be used as a cheap portrait lens but closed is very comfortable in the macro photography.

MC Helios 44 58/2 – seria bardzo popularnych
obiektywów dostarczanych
z nowszymi Zenitami, oparta na konstrukcji
Biotara. Wersje od 4 do 7 różnią
się jakością wykonania powłok, jednakże
wszystkie podobnie źle działają pod
światło. Wersja siódma ma nieco większą
rozdzielczość. Heliosy 44 charakteryzują
się dość nieciekawym oddaniem szczegółów
przy otwarciu przysłony, sporym
winietowaniem i wysoką ostrością po
przymknięciu przysłony (także przy jej
maksymalnej wartości, co ma znaczenie
w makrofotografii). Są to najbardziej popularne
obiektywy w Polsce, dostępne
za grosze tak na aukcjach w Internecie,
jak i na giełdach, bazarach itp. Przy kupowaniu
trzeba uważać na spory rozrzut
jakości różniący poszczególne egzemlarze.
Otwarty można stosować jako tani
sprzęt do portretu, przymknięty jest dobry
do pejzażu itp. Helios 44-7 jest wciąż
produkowany.

MC Helios 44 58/2 – very popular batch delivered with newer zenits. The construction of this Helios is based on Biotar. Versions 4-7 differs the multi coating quality although all of these work very badly directed to the sunlight. Version 7 reaches a bit higher quality/resolution. Helioses 44 are famous because of the dull details on the photos when the aperture is wide open, strong vignetting and high quality/resolution when the aperture is closed (even to the highest value what is important in the macro photography). This lens is very popular in Poland - available cheaply on internet auctions, markets, etc.. When buying this lens You have to be prepare for very high differences between particular exemplars. With aperture opened it can be used as a cheap portrait lens but closed is good for the landscapes. Helios 44-7 is still produced.

Sorry for the non-accurate English but usually i'm translating from English. Smile
