Which is the best for landscape, walking in the city (in the night too)?

I don't want to buy the Canon 24/1.4L if not necessary, looking for cheaper, but same quality solution.

What about this one:

Thanks

That would be quite a good choice, the 25mm belongs to the top Contax lenses. That one is a bit on the expensive side though....

The quite fine 2.8/24mm Zuiko could also be a choice and quite less expensive.

I have the Zuiko 2.8/24mm and use it regularly. This baby may not have the Zeissness, but it is sharp enough at all corners to give the Zeiss a run for the money. Some even say that this is sharper than the Zeiss, but I can't give any first hand comparative evaluation.

The distortion is also very controlled, hardly noticeable. You can't go wrong with this one.

I don't know whether this is the best, but it gives the best bang for my money Smile

I doubt the price would stay that way when it ends.

I second Nikkor view.. I have very beaten up, old Nikkor 24mm f2.8 lens...
just superb... I gave $40 for that copy.. Now I am seeing very small chip by the side of back element... I am in market for new copy, not "new" but the next.. Wink

For a cheapo like me, I am happy with nikkor 24mm f2.8
Some pics with this lens,

the nikkor 24mm f2.8 should be the best
the zuiko 24 2.8 is a funny lens, small like a pancake
very good value for the money

The Zuiko 2/24 is probably the best in this area
It is designed with a floating element so close focus is
improved over the 2.8 version
I find little distortion and it is sharp enough to use open become excellent stopped down
If you like I can send you Pics of one that I have for sale please send me PM if interested
Attila tested this lens and he prefered the Nikon
I think the copy of the Zuiko he had was effected by bubbles in the first element group however.
If the question is Price/Performance then I join the others in saying Nikon
That lens is a very nice performer and going for less money then Zeiss or Zuiko

Also a question Are you using a a full frame?
A 24 will not be much for Architecture on a Cropped sensor
Why not a 20-21 instead
In which case I would say the zuiko 3.5/21 is the best for price and performance

Thank you for the answers. You suggested me really a lot of good lenses.

Ballu - yes, I've 350D too, seems nikon 24/2.8 is really very good. Great samples, thanx. What kind of adapter do you use?

Poilu - olympus seems great lens too. Fantastic colours, thanks for the examples.

F16SUNSHINE - thank you, I'll send you a PM soon. I use 350D, but 24mm is enough for me. This will be my everyday lens, only one lens on the gear, but always with me.

As I see, have to try all, and keep 'THE ONE'...Smile
