I like the looks of the 105
( sorry for the dust..I took them in a hurry, just before sunset, and forgot to blow-dust them )

Congregation! The 105 with the handwriting Komura engraved is very rare. There is at least five different versions of the F3.5 version I can find. Here is the five versions arranged in chronological order.
1st version, all chrome, 4-digit serial
http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e150082628#
2nd version, similar to v1 with block color focus and aperture ring, handwriting 'Komura' on nameplate(your copy), 6-digit serial
3rd version, similar to v1, all black except the chrome front part, 6-digit serial
http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m126586514
4th version, similar to v3 with the mount and DOF part in black, 6-digit serial
Click here to see on Ebay
5th version, all black except the bottom chrome mount, with new different style focus and aperture ring, 7-digit serial
Click here to see on Ebay
P.S. I receive today a Komura 2/105 from a forum member in UK who relay the lens to me. _________________ The best lens is the one you have with you.

wow Calvin, thank you so much about all this information!
I was simply curious about these Komura lenses and clicked on some auctions without knowing anything about them nor about different version. If I remember right I even had repented to have 'clicked' on the 105 that time because just a day later I could have gotten a faster, but not the f2, 105mm Komura in LTM for even less. Do I remember right? Are there any f2.5 or f2.8 105mm Komuras in LTM?
Anyway now that I received the lenses I am very happy about the 3.5/105, with all that wear and patina imo it simply looks so very gorgeous, and the 'handwritten' Komura sure adds to that special look
'My' 2.8/135mm seems to be of about the same vintage than the 5th version of the 105 you had linked, is that right?
I have taken the first test shots with the 2.8/135 today, wide open it isn't good but just one stop down it looked quite good. Rel. poor wide open also might be due to damaged glass, specially around edges it looks quite bad. BTW. it came with it's case and viewfinder included, should add a photo of those
I am very curious how this 3.5/ 105 shall perform
and even more so how your f2/105 shall perform
cheers, andreas _________________ my photos on flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kuuan/collections |

Beautiful, the style of the first is very consistent with a Soligor 135/2.8 attributed to Komura that I have seen on this forum. I believe it is depicted in the Big Soligor thread. I'm sorry I can't provide a more specific attribution but I don't have time to go through all 16 pages this morning! |

This is interesting, and what a beauty the older Komuras!
I have #5, with a slightly different variation on the logo, and if you look at my serial this logo was possibly the last of the Komura 105mm lineup?!?

The 2.8/135 is the same as the SLR version with different mount.
I think you will like the 3.5/105. It is a capable triplet with its own character. _________________ The best lens is the one you have with you.

looks to me that these Komuras have an optical part incl. the aperture assembly that can be screwed out in one piece, remaining part is the helicoid with mount. I guess that the M39 helicoid + mount can be freely exchanged with the M42 helicoid and mount. Similarily the optical blocks of the 100mm and 135 mm Canon LTM lenses can be screwed out in one part, I wonder if they would also fit the helicoid + mount piece of Canomatic R lenses and vice versa _________________ my photos on flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kuuan/collections |

I think Komura use the exact front part but not the Canon. The optical block of the 2/105 can be screw off easily http://www.bigeye.url.tw/big5/d_komu105_2_2.htm . _________________ The best lens is the one you have with you.

right, imagine all what has been viewed through these lenses, I love that!
in the meantime I had picked up another copy of the 3.5/105, body looks the same with less brassing and it has a different, later looking lettering on it's name ring. Test shots show quite a different rendering, I suppose it's mostly improved coatings. I plan to add o photo of it ( but the lens is not with me now and it will take a while ) _________________ my photos on flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kuuan/collections |
