I got this uncommon black range-finder version of Industar 50 50/3.5:

It looks just like 50-2 M42 with an extension tube. It does 1:3 macro on DSLR (set at infinity) and 1:2.5 macro at closest focus.

Cheaper than M42 Industar 50-2 + extension tubes Very Happy

I'm more jealous of the vintage plastic (or could it actually still be bakelite?) case. I wish I had one for each of my KMZ make lenses.

Very cool though! The Industar-50 has never seemed to let anyone down. I look forward to your results.

They are not easy to get, I've tried and tried. I have got one of those cute little cases, they were used for 39/42mm extension tubes as well as lenses, which is how I got mine. Very Happy PS my case is Plastic, I have a bigger version for a Tair-11A which is Bakelite Very Happy

I think it's bakelite. I'm not decided if I'll keep the lens (I have one more: M42 50-2 black version), so if I would sell it, I'll offer it together with the case Smile I have 2 more, one for KMZ extension rings and one for Jupiter-3 50/1.5...

Its amazing how they accumulate, I have only 1 black m42 version now but 4 chrome m39 versions, from various early Zenits, still they are ok with a dslr and a 39-42 adapter, but can't get any of them to go to infinity. Very Happy

Like these objectives it is possible to disassemble to clean adjusting washers and to adjust infinity.

I read somewhere that the "extension tube" can be unscrewed and that your lens become then usable on SLR. Worth a try.

Regarding infinity focus, mine doesn't reach it either (it came with a Zenit 3m). The reason is the different register distance (M39 for Zenit SLR is 42,3mm, M42 is 42,5mm).

http://www.zenitcamera.com/mans/instr-M39-M42/instr-M39-M42.html

"....1. Having turned out 2 lock screws 1, to remove a carving ring 2, rotating it against an hour hand course. 2. To take out from a transitive frame of an objective the block with optical details and to remove from it прокладочное/adjusting a ring 3. 3. To make gauging of a thickness прокладочного/adjusting rings 3 with accuracy ±0,01 mm and then to cut it on a thickness on 0,3 mm with the admission ±0,02 mm. Thus, in order to avoid a block warp, it is necessary to provide parallelism of end faces of a ring within 0,02 mm and not to suppose agnails after подрезки. 4. To establish прокладочное/adjusting a ring 3 after it подрезки on a former place of a frame of the block and to make objective assemblage upside-down. At block installation in a transitive frame of an objective to pay attention to obligatory combination of a point with a stroke against figure "16" of a scale of a diaphragm then the ring carving 2 follows with effort to turn against the stop. 5. To repeat check of resolution and to compare the received results to the data of check before objective dismantling. They should coincide. The divergence of the data on resolution can be only at inexact подрезке/(the exact is sharp) an intermediate ring 3 on the size specified above — 0,3±0,02 mm. 6. At satisfactory results of repeated check of resolution of an objective it is necessary to fix a ring 2 screws 1, preliminary having made засверловку/(exact drilling) frames under them on depth of 0,5-0,7 mm...."

Thanks Kamerer, do you have experience with reaching infinity for M39 version of Mir 2.8/37mm too?

Unfortunately on Mir-1 of the information at me is not present, but I think there it is similarly necessary on 0,3mm to displace an optical part or not to remove on an open diaphragm/apertura.
