In the last times I often leave my Rikenon 55/1.4 on camera. Here some examples taken in different times in the kitchen and surroundings. The last one is not from the kitchen Smile .

wonderful shots! were any of these wide open?

Thank you Smile .

I'm sure the first one and the last two are wide open, the second one is f/11, the third... I do not know, I took a series. There is some sharpening applied with DPP when developing RAW.

the signature in the background (vignetting causing cats eye highlights in the out-of-focus regions near the edge, the harder edge of these highlights) suggest that the 3rd shot was shot wide open too. at least to my eyes. i reckon you'd have got smoother solid circles if you stopped down...

Yes, it would be very interesting to see similar shots at slightly smaller apertures like f1.7 or f2, to see what happens to the bokeh rings.

What adapter do you use for the canon 1000D for the Rikenon? I have a friend who has just bought the 1000D and she is just starting out....I would like to be able to share my M42 lenses with her.
I love #3 with all the glass...crisp... Cool

I would say this one from Big-IS :
Click here to see on Ebay
It has AF confirm chip and a flange for making semi-auto aprture lenses work.

In a previous thread I posted an f/4 picture, but in a borderline situation:

.

Next time I'll be more precise in writing down setup, to test smaller apertures.

I use adapters from DSLRBaby, but I recently bought an EMF version from Big_is (though I still have to become used to their way of setting aperture, perhaps it helps in remembering settings...).

Thanks Olivier and enzdom....may be the old notepad and pencil will help until you remember the settings... Very Happy

Ok, I quickly took the same scene with different aperture (and pencil & notepad Smile ). Here only adjusting light, resizing, exporting to JPEG. Not sure if the scene is right for comparison.

f/1.4

f/2

f/2.8
