I'm doing some Super Simple Research (SSR) Laughing
Here I tested 3 of my favorite 35mm RF lenses against each other.
It was not ment to be posted, but when watching the results on my computer I thought I could share it anyway! Wink

Canon Serenar 35mm f/2.8
Nikkor 35mm f/2.5
Jupiter 12 35mm f/2.8

Conclusion: Canon wins, with Nikkor in second, but all of them are good performers IMO and produce nice pictures in most situations.

Shot with A7R, ISO 50, Dim light, 100%. The Nikkor cost 2x more than the Canon and 4x more the Jupiter 12 Wink
The Jupiter 12 have some Color shift on A7R, Nikkor has just a tad, and the Canon look very nice. I am planing to test corner performance later stopped down. Wink

Don't bother checking the corners on any Jupiter-12 shots Laughing

How were you able to use your J-12 without damaging your curtains ?

The J12 fits the a7 fine, the curtains are further behind the rear element.

Yes, I found out approx. 1.8mm clearance, so pretty close Wink

Is it that bad Laughing

I will take 3 shots of each (f/2.8 - f/5.6 and f/11)

I think I prefer the Nikkor more - the slightly warmer color seems pleasing, and there seems to be just the tiniest hint of CA in the Canon one, like between the blue window and the white wall next to it (right side of the picture)

I have the silver version Canon 35/2.8 LTM, it actually performs better on the A7r than I was expecting.

Corner test update:

Canon best at f/2.8 without discussion, but look at the NIKKOR stopped down, wow! Very Happy
It really sharpens up the edges and deliver good contrast too!

Jupiter 12 is as good as the Canon stopped down too or even a tad nicer Wink
Canon seem to have the most CA

ISO 50, tripod, A7R, very bad light (30s shutter on f11)

I need to do a landscape test too.

I'm not a big fan of test charts like this, but I learn something on the way that can be important to know when choosing lens for different situations later.

Hi
Do you have an idea if the situation is similar on Nex3?

Jupiter 12 won't work on NEX-3 (or 5, 6 and 7).. the distance isn't the problem, the huge back of the lens won't fit between the sensor frame (which you haven't on FF A7x).

Thanks for that
