Have a look here: http://vimeo.com/10513066

Based on a Carnegie Mellon development. Neat idea methinks.

I was told about this by a friend so watching e-bay picked up a used one for 250. Trouble is it does not support the a7 series cameras so I can't just buy their release cable and go (Iknow, I know do your due diligence before buying stuff) . Anybody on here hacked the device for this purpose? I'm seeing some hints in other forums but before I get too carried away I thought I'd ask people I trust. If I can't get specifics I'll just buy an A35, but I really would like to try this with the newer FF sensor on my a7rii.

Nevermind. Further research shows a mfr product that is supposed to work. Cable 510-3501revA.

The Gigapan Epic Pro can support a very large camera-lens combo, up to 10lbs / 4.5 kgs. I started off with the intermediate model, the Gigapan Epic 100, which could support my Pentax K-5 and Tamron 300mm zoom without hiccups, but recently upgraded to the Epic Pro and have been shooting with a Pentax K-3 and Five Star 500mm MF prime. The results were pretty good though vignetting was pretty visible, despite the stitching software having its own anti-vignetting correction option. I made a short video about my experiments with this combo (the GigaPan bit begins at the 43 second mark and runs until 2mins 20 secs) https://youtu.be/HCYqKZZSYgQ?t=43
