After much ebay searching and re-searching I found a nice clean SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4 at my local vintage camera shop.
They made me an excellent deal too! It's slightly yellow, a little internal dust but otherwise quite clean.
Serial # 640xxxx with rubberized focus ring. What year would that make it, 1964?

At 1.4.

Bobble-head dolls shot through shop window @ 2.0. Bottom is a 100% crop.

Shot @ 1.4, bottom is 100% crop. Minimal post processing.

Now I really see what all the talk is about. Amazing lens!

These were shot on the way home from the camera shop. Will do some serious tests tomorrow. Very happy!

Congratulations! This is the last M42 version dating from 1973 to 1975, when the bayonet mount was introduced.

Peter, thanks! Very good to know!

One more with a 100% crop shot at 1.4!

Ohh.., I paid mine $39 (as yours). Mine is older a S-M-C version.

It's my favorite 50 mm lens. See the cat's pics. Fantastic, very nice colors, great bokeh, very good resolution, neutral contrast.

Great lens, and congratulations, you have one.

Enjoy. Rino.
