Here's an interesting M42 lens I picked up this week, it needs a re-lube, but other than that is in fantastic condition Smile

Will hopefully post some results over the bank holiday weekend.

It's the first time for me too.

Nice, very nice lens.

How does it performer?

Almost sure that it's a sonnar design (don't think that should be a tessar one)

Thanks for sharing. Very much.

Rino.

Congrats Very Happy
95mm is a focal length I never heard of.
For sure you will post some images.
Have fun with the lens.

Nice catch! Is it coated at all? The surface looks very much like "ordinary" glass.

Thanks for the comments all Smile It has some bluish coating. We'll see how it performs soon Wink

Congrats! Nice find, but not really that rare. It is mentioned in the little ENNA book I have.
I know (and have) three versions of that lens, the first a Cooke triplet and the following
two types having a more complex design with 4 elements.

Excuse me Klaus,

think that your judgement is somewhat odd for other people Rolling Eyes.
If you think it is a good idea to have three versions of a lens it should be a rare lens, I believe Laughing.

Do you know if the lens in this post is a triplet or a later one?

Well, the definition of rare is of course relative. Here I see it at least 5x a years or so. Rare I call a lens made 5-50 pieces only and I got one of them for instance.

That should be the 4 element version, from the later 60ies, the 2nd type as it has the wider zebra stripes. The latest one has narrower stripes.

Classic 60's coating. With pale blue and magenta reflections.

It is not a common lens to me.

Tessar design? Well, so f/ 11 and 16, the better apertures.

The pics will speack by themselves.

Rino.

Not a Tessar, a mix between Sonnar and double Gauss I would say (simplified to save cost). Derived from the 2.8/135mm lens.

It is in that book, but I don't have access to a scanner currently.

Just what I wanted to say. You are more strict in it. I think I meet something special when I see less than half a page on Flickr when I am searching for a lens Laughing .
You are right ofcourse.

Is it a preset?

PostPosted: Sat May 28, 2011 3:40 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Yep, it's a preset. It kinda counts as rare to me as I've only seen 3-4 over the past six months. Rare or not though, you can't really go wrong for the price of a round of drinks Smile

Surely a very nice lens, maybe some contrast enhancement helps too, but overall I quite like it and I'm sure you will too!

Thanks.

Is that like the biometar?

What? The design or the results using it??

PostPosted: Tue Aug 07, 2012 10:39 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

I also have one coming my way hopefully tomorrow in Exakta mount. Similarly priced (a round of drinks!)

Couldn't find any samples Graham, or did I miss them? Would be great to know how you found it.
