Can't find a whole lot of info on this lens mainly that it was marketed toward the science and dental industries of the 80's and that its optically inferior to the tokina and vivitar series one 90mm f2.5s.

Heres a quick test I had of it today, poor lighting meant high ISO and wide apertures so Iq will improve in good light,

First shot was wide open and second was taken at f5.6

that's komine made macro lens that goes to 1:1 magnification, as opposed to mentioned tokina and vivitar 90mm/2.5 that go to 1:2 on their own. this lens comes in different brands like vivitar, soligor,panagor,...

I am sorry to say it, but it seems your lizard has developed a hot pixel. Sad

Ha Ha yes they have the ability to change colour so not sure if that "pixel" is a faulty one!

I took this one a year back with a cosina 100mm 3.5 macro and he has a faulty pixel also!

I used to have a magazine article which compared a number of macro lenses, including the Tamron, in which the Elicar was very highly rated.

I do like it, its very heavy though, doubles in length at 1:1 and has a stiff focus ring (from what I can gather they all do). Its sharp though has good working distance and is very solidly built

It was a little bit too windy for hand held macro shots, but I've tried it, and did a few shot with this lens at infinity!

I had the Panagor version and loved it apart from it's weight.

My ELICAR V-HQ MACRO MC 90mm f/2.5 lens with an CONTAX mount was delivered with an 8x achromatic lens which will provide an M.: 2:1 macro range!

OK. today you can easily crop such an 2:1 macro image in post processing!

The advantage of this 62mm 8x achromatic macro lens is, I can use it sucessfully on many of my other glasses!
