Canon A1. Kit with lenses and flash.

I am selling this for a friend who was a photography student many years ago and she hasn't used it since.

Canon A1, in excellent condition. I have fitted new light seals, mirror bumper, and cured the squeal - which was very slight. Everything works as it should and there is no wear on the film plate or major marks on the outside. It has a scruffy half case that has been on it since new.

The lens is a good 50 / 1.8 with no fungus, oil on the blades or excessive dust. The glass has no cleaning marks or scratches and the filter ring has no dents.

There is a Vivitar 135 / 2.8 with a 28****** serial number - Komine. This lens is perfect, she tried it once and never fitted it to the camera again. Sadly there is no original box but both caps are with it.

With this lens is an unused Vivitar X2 Teleconverter in its case, and again in perfect condition.

There is also a Metz Mecablitz 36 CTZ, which is in good order and although the battery terminals were not attacked by battery acid I have cleaned them.

There are some accessories, a set of Cokin A Series filters with 52mm ring, holder and lens hood. Filters - blue, red, gradual fog, orange, yellow, star and galaxy.
Flash bracket, 52mm rubber lens hood, body cap and a vintage small folding tripod.

I'm looking for sensible offers on this kit. It's a lovely classic camera that is very useable.

Please ignore the reference in the thread to The Canon Speedlite 133D, it was originally listed in this thread but it was pointed out that it is not for the Canon A1 so it is not included, and will be listed seperately.

When the Canon FD lens mount was introduced with the FTb and F-1 cameras, a special Canon electronic flash system was introduced as well. Canon called this the CAT (Canon Auto Tuning) system. There were two models, the Speedlite 133D and the Speedlite 500A. The Speedlite 133D worked on the FTb, FTbn, EF and F-1. A Flash Auto Ring was fitted onto the front bayonet mount of the lens with the two prongs on the back catching the stud on the lens focusing ring, so that the prongs were moved as the lens was focused. A cable from the Flash Auto Ring was then plugged into the flash. Once this had been done and the camera metering switch placed in the flash position, the camera's light meter needle could be lined up with the circle by turning the aperture ring after focusing, and flash exposure was automatic.

Hi, Dave this information for others to read not for you - You'll know all this.

The flash will work with the the A1, select which aperture you want on the back of the flash 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, or 11, the same on the camera - in manual mode, set the shutter to red 1/60th or 1/125th and off you go. The flash figures out the exposure.

I think the flash device that fits on the front of the lens somehow connects to the aperture ring ? - I think the Speedlight 133D will work as a stand alone flash, but I could be wrong. Confused

Anyway, here's the description and picture of the flash.
A Canon Speedlight 133D with an attachment that clips on to the front of the lens is included. This does not seem to fit the Canon 50 lens with the camera but it does fit my Canon 135 - it clips to the bayonets found on the outside of Canon lenses. I have never seen this before and can't find much information about it. I think the Speedlight works without this attachment ?
The Speedlight has had leaking batteries but I have thoroughly cleaned the terminals.

I was talking about the Mecablitz, crossed wires somewhere. Yes flash sync is 1/60th.

The 28******* VIVITAR lens was manufactured by KOMINE JAPAN, this is the best Vivitar lens factory, hope to sell a good price~~~~ Laughing

It might still be for sale, my friend has taken the kit back to her place last week and is going to try it on ebay, I shall probably see her in the next few days and see if it's sold or not.
She was hoping for about �70 for the Canon A1 and the lenses, flash etc - I think the older Canon flash she will list separately.

I have another Canon A1 for sale, decent condition. It's a well used camera with some brassing on the corners but it has been looked after, it is not knocked about. I'll fit some seals in it and it'll be a nice camera.
There's a 50 / 1.8 in excellent condition, Canon 50-135 Macro - slight fungus, Canon 100-300 / 4.5 - dusty, and a Tefnon 28 / 2.8 in very nice condition. And, a very clean and tidy Tamron 500 mirror lens, cased & hood but no filters except the one that's on.
I've only just got this from a close friend who has dementia and can no longer use it, and I'm selling it on his behalf. I will clean and check everything, make a better post with better descriptions, and hopefully see it all go to someone who will enjoy it as much as Baz did.

OK, it's still for sale, my friend had it back but didn't get around to ebay'ing the whole kit so I have it here again. I have taken new pictures and added them to the top of the thread.

The kit includes the A1 camera, 50 / 1.8 Canon lens, 135 / 2.8 Vivitar / Komine lens, Metz Mecablitz 36 CT2 Flash, Vivitar X2 Teleconverter, Various Cokin and similar filters with the holder and filter rings. Flash bracket and a few other bits.

It's a very good camera that has had light use, the Vivitar has barely been on the camera. And it is for sale - open to offers.
