One of my all-time favorite lenses. I much prefer it to the 50/1.4.

I also have the SMC 55/2.0. It is likewise one of my best performers, pleasing all around. I learned recently that the 1.8 and the 2.0 are the same lens. Asahi just got a little "creative" with the specs.

The 55/2.0 has been regarded as a simple kit lens. The 55/1.8 had a sort of cult following. Therefore the 55/2.0 has always been about 1/3 the price of the 1.8. I think mine cost $5 USD a couple of years ago.

But now I see the prices creeping up on both lenses. The word is out...
