This item came recently to my attention. The approach of this author, when it comes to scratched/damaged lenses, can be summed up in perhaps four words:

"Don't worry; be happy!" Very Happy

Here is the item:

Does anyone buy what this guy is selling?

Lenses can take quite a lot of abuse. In fact, a couple of lenses that I could describe as dogs had no scratches whatsoever. Conversely, I have a couple of lenses with serious damages, that are my main lenses and favorites. Here's Leica Summar that has about 4mm long scratch on the front element. It also has some thin long scratches on the interior elements (which seller failed to disclose)

I can either return the lens for a full refund or keep it and get 1/4 of the price back. I think I will keep the lens. Why? Because it takes images like that:

Then, here's Canon FD 35mm f2 with separation. It's my default 35mm lens:

I'd keep that lens too, fine results from it. Smile

I have a tair3 with a lot of tiny scratches on front element (bought for peanuts from Fermy, btw), that performs perfectly even in stressing conditions, and In general, all my scratched lenses perform 100% as they should, except in some extreme cases of light pointing in particular ways.
