I have just been given this popular old zoom 1970's I think, f/3.8 - f/4, but the "trombone" zoom/focus becomes stiff and stops as you move from infinity towards 5M.

Is this a lubrication problem?

I know it is not worth much, but there are some good shots on this forum so it might be fun to take it apart and clean/lubricate - any ideas:

1/ how to take it apart?
2/ how to clean the mechanics. Helical focus I assume.
3/ what lubricant to use?
