Hi Olivier, how are you ?

Nice images, #3 and #5 are my faves. Are these new pics ?

The advantages of digital....yesterday I was taking shots of bumble bees in the garden around the heather, but the shots are still in the camera..........cos it's film.

Hi Olivier, I´m fine too.

Yesterday was a nice day here too and today it seems it will be much better. Shocked

Perhaps we will have some blossoms next week here too. It´s a good idea that you show your images so I have an idea what will happen here few days later. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Thank you.
Poilu, Ithink you're right.

Olivier, do you like this AF macro?
I check the reviews and it is quite bad compared to your Canon 50:1.8II
at 2.8, the 50 is better than the 100 at 5.6

Oh yes I like it, Poilu. Very Happy

It's interesting to see that the 1.8/50mm seems exceptional on a full frame. Its results are at the maximum of the range scale.

I just copy the final conclusion about the 2.8/100mm Macro :
The Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM macro may not have the shiny reputation of an L grade lens but it's a great performer nonetheless. It provides sharp images straight from f/2.8 all the way down to f/16 and neither distortions nor lateral CAs are something to worry about. It produces some pronounced vignetting at f/2.8 but within the full format test scope it's actually better than most here. The amount of LoCAs (bokeh fringing) is comparatively moderate even at f/2.8. The quality of the bokeh (out-of-focus blur) is pretty good although not perfect.
The Canon lens features a true IF (internal focusing) mechanism so its physical length remains constant regardless of the focus setting - in terms of long term durability this is clearly a superior approach compared to the usual extension system used in third party alternatives. The principal build quality leaves also nothing to be desired for a lens in this class. The implementation of the USM (ultrasonic AF) is excellent - compared to conventional macro lenses in this range it is a speed daemon here and a near silent one.
Regarding its performance characteristic in this full format scope it is a steal for the money and as good as the much more expensive Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM L IS - minus image stabilization and a slightly less impressive build quality
.

You make me think about a quick comparison between those two lenses.
I'll see in the next days wether conditions are good to do it . Smile

Just have a look at the APS-C results for the two lenses and they are very close.

interesting, indeed; or it is the Canon lenses variation, or those test cannot be trust

If you compare the blur indexes, they're very close on APS-C and on FF the 1.8/50 is a bit better.
