The Rolleinar 105/2.8 in QBM mount (Mamiya made) comes very close in size, but it's not 100mm.

The Rolleinar MC 105/2.8 (or Voigtlander Color Dynarex AR) is a incredible sharp lens and would be a really good choice. Unfortunately nearly all avaible QBM/NEX adapters are crap. I would suggest the Fotodiox Pro adapter.. it's a bit more expensive, but has a much better build quality.

this lens doesn't exist... I guess you are talking about the Rolleinar MC 85/2.8 Wink

Yes,it is the 85/2.8 MC Rollleinar,not 85/2.0.

Both 85/2.8 and 105/2.8 are pretty sharp indeed ,but their colour rendition is not my favourite. This refers also to other Mamiya made lenses in QBM mount that I have - 21/4,135/2.8 and 200/3.5 Rolleinars.

Rolleinar MC 85/2.8 is very sharp.
I get this lens and it is very compact.
I use it with a very cheap rolleiflex to canon eos then canon eos to sony nex adapter.
the rolleiflex to canon eos is like this :
http://www.ebay.fr/itm/New-Rollei-Rolleiflex-35mm-QBM-lens-to-Canon-EOS-EF-mount-adapter-adaptor-Ring-/261040902296?hash=item3cc7401098:g:hZMAAOSwd4tUGB0F

the adapter don't hold the lens so good because the pin move a little. I add a little "multifix paste" to fix it and it work good from 6 months ( a don't remove the adapter)

Which colour rendition is your favourite?

Think I'm going to stick with my plan of getting a better quality newer version of the Oly OM 100/2.8. I'm also going to go back through my shots and perhaps just use the ones that aren't critically sharp, but that have something special.

I was watching the documentary "What Happened, Miss Simone?" yesterday, and there are a lot of amazing photographs used in it. One of the things I noticed - a lot of them aren't sharp, and some of them are totally misfocused. They still have value. They are still powerful. They are still beautiful.

So I'm just going to cut myself some slack, and capture what I capture. Smile

I like rendition of Zeiss C/Y,Zeiss G,Zeiss Z,Minolta MD and Leica R most. There are also more lenses with character from these brands compared to the others imo.

A Nikkor 105/2.5? It's been highly regarded, esp for its sharpness. Rumors say that Steve McCury took the famous portrait for the Afghan girl with it. The thing might not be quite light - it weighs about 1lb.

Very good suggestion.

Rorslett: "The 105/2.5 is a killer combination on the D3. Even set wide open, high-contrast. bitingly sharp images result. "

The AIS version. Cheaper than OM, probably. That is a VERY famous lens, and can take it WO. I doubt you can do better for the money.

Remember the older ones are a different Sonnar lens, while the later version is D gauss. The Sonnar is also a great lens, but the newer AI or AIS Gauss (1972+) are going to be stronger.

The really famous concert lens is the nikkor 180/2.8 ED, which is about 250USD and the only 180s or 200s which can beat it WO are much more money. Even those are not sharper but do have nicer bokeh.

All that said, 135 might be worth a try also. Smile Not sure which 135/2.8 is best at 2.8. The OM is pretty good and very small. Smile The Leitz 135 elmarits are absolutely gorgeous and strong WO, but will run 300 bucks.

This is my experience with these outstanding lenses! The latest version AIS (SIC coating) is sharp and contrasted from wide open. The focal is just for portrait, but has an impressive capacity to capture details to infinity... very very god and versatil.

Happy shots!

If you want a little more reach, there's the Pentax-M 120/2.8 lens. Still the same speed as the 100/2.8, but a bit longer. Both the 120/2.8 and 150/3.5 Pentax-M lenses are somewhat uncommon.

By the time you get to 135/2.8, you're looking at a big lens.
