First nighttime shots...

I packed two cameras, the Contax RX with Zeiss Planar 50/1.7 and the Oly
35RC. First up, the Contax:

I included the 3rd shot only because I think there's a picture there some
where. I may have to invite Mr. Tripod and Mr. Remote Shutter Release
to get it, tho.

And the Oly 35RC:

Used Wallies Fujicolor 400 film in both cams. The Contax was shot in
Aperture Priority mode, and the Oly was shot manually since it wasn't
going to let me take anything in Auto/Shutter Priority mode. Most of
those are at f2.8 and 1/15 sec. Oh, same crappy shooter used both cams.
Laughing The first shots in both sets I thought would make a nice comparison
between the two cams.

Bill

Nice! I like the last two. Pretty ominous looking sky in that second to last. How do you do without a Tripod and cable release ?

Andy and Poilu, obviously I don't do very well! Laughing With the Oly, I have
not much problem shooting at 1/15sec.

Here's a couple more with the Oly 35RC, wide open, 1/15sec:

Maybe not. These last 2 have a great atmosphere. Night shots are not usually about detail. During the night, film sees more than the naked eye after all. The one of the Busker is pretty cool. Smile Maybe crop some foreground to make a better line. Same on the second one.

Thanks, Andy, all sales are final on the cropping, though, just kidding. Wink I was told I might want to try Fuji NPZ over at RFF, have you ever
tried this film?

I don't think so. Is it a neutral saturation film? I like the S 160 portrait film for night. It is what I use for moonlight. Or Provia it is pretty neutral saturation but still picks up colors nicely. Also the slides scan better. That OLY is a nice little camera no? You should try the Yashica GT also. Bring the tripod and a cable however. The Electros are great for night time. The auto system will give you step-less up to 30min exposures Shocked

Andy, it's this film:

I'm not a member of this site, so can only view thumbnails, but look purty
good to me!

Hummm, good point about the Yashica!

Sorry. I had a typo. That is step-less shutter upp to 30 secs not mins. Still pretty functional aye? Yeah, that looks like a nice low saturation style film (couple of cute girls on this link too). I think it would be great. The thing is that sometimes that "DisneyCHrome" look of high sat. films like Velvia is really cool at night. Best to carry a couple of cameras loaded with different film. Should not be a problem for any of our membership Laughing

Nice series Bill. The last shot and the one under the bridge are my favorites.

Andy, very good idea about packing different cams with different film.

Thanks, Ron.

Bit fuzzy with many there Bill. I totally agree that a pod and shutter release are essential when shooting after dusk. Just can't do without...

I looks forward to seeing more of your night shots when setup properly.

And I also have to concur with Attila... digi is the best medium I've found for shooting at night. JMPO.

Thanks for stopping by, Chris.
