I bought my flek 35/2,4 in summer time. Now, in winter, the lens have the blades that no close to F/8 and down when I put the camera looking to the floor.

I take off the lens and put it face down, and when I close the blades, in the manual form, this not close down to 8.

Face up, the blades close OK to F/22. And in when the lens is looking in front of me, it close OK too.

What happen? Anybody can help me? Thanks.

That's interesting. My Pancolar 1.8/50 does have same problem but it doesn't shut when it is faced up. On its sides or down, it works fine.
Fortunately I don't shoot up in the sky with this lens so I am keeping it.

Sorry I can't help you but my second copy of Flek's blades also failed. Maybe it's another common problem with CZJ, in addition to gritty focus ring. Glasses are top though.

esrods

when you don't use the lens, do you keep it face down or face up?

I keep it face down and latter face down don't shut. It may occur with your pancolar too. If you keep it face up, then face up don't shut. (may the oil accumulate on the upper of the blades or mechanism and when you put the lens face up don't shut).

what's your opinion?

Need to clean blades, quite typical with many old lenses.

If you not use above F8 you have time to wait till stuck open.

All my lenses are stored face up. I cannot see any obvious oil on the blades but I can see some stain/dirt on them.
When blades are not moving I give it a tap, if no response, I give it a bash. Works all the time – not just lenses but everything Wink
