The camera is secondary, the main thing is the 55/1.4 lens: it's a Richoh under Sears label, with a good rep, by Tomioka I believe

It's a great portrait and flower lens for your 40D from wide open to f4. Super smooth bokeh and lovely sharpness. Beeyond f4 the lens gets sharper but you must be careful with highlights. It has a very flat rear element and the shape of the aperture can be reflected by this surface. It is the exact same effect that the 1.2/55 Tomioka is susceptible to. $20 is a steal here is my last ebay sale of this lens.
