Click here to see on Ebay

The camera is secondary, the main thing is the 55/1.4 lens: it's a Richoh under Sears label, with a good rep, by Tomioka I believe

Nice find. This camera has one of the most reliable mechanical shutters ever made. And yes the lens is the Tomioka 1.4/55 legend. I definite green light for the lens alone. I sold a mint copy of this lens recently for just under $200 and some go higher.

Patrick, are congrats in order? Smile

I'm glad someone here got it - I just couldn't justify yet another standard lens + stop down screw mount body, although I found it very intriguing.

Congrats, I hope... the Seattle Goodwill usually delivers decent stuff, I've bought many things from them.

@Bill - yes I got it for $20.
@Nesster - R U in the area?

Andy's judgement on this lens is what I went for - so it's really his fault. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Congrats Patrickh!
It's a great portrait and flower lens for your 40D from wide open to f4. Super smooth bokeh and lovely sharpness. Beeyond f4 the lens gets sharper but you must be careful with highlights. It has a very flat rear element and the shape of the aperture can be reflected by this surface. It is the exact same effect that the 1.2/55 Tomioka is susceptible to. $20 is a steal here is my last ebay sale of this lens. Take a look at the sample shots for a little taste of the style on the listing and below.

Patrickh, no, I'm on the other coast. I've bought a few from this particular goodwill however, I'm not sure how long they've been on ebay directly as my buys have been through goodwill.com

@Andy
Your pictures and your contributions to discussions make it clear to me that you know whereof you speak. I had no hesitation in going after this particular lens, and thanks for the sample and the link Very Happy Very Happy

@Nesster - I used to live over there and even further East! Goodwill is a good source in general
