This is one of those lenses that just sits in the odds and sods box. An additional item from a lot I can't remember buying, but I've never got rid of it. It feels like it ought to be OK, but is it?
Well yes it is... It's quite soft wide open but more than OK at 5.6. It has an auto/manual switch so is easy to use but it's also quite bulky. It feels a bit like the Takumar 200 but without the tripod bracket.
These were both at 5.6 and I think 400iso
And a crop

I have a "Hanimex 200/3.5" in M42 which looks exactly like this one... I don't have any other 200mm lenses to compare it to except a Pentax Takumar-A 70-200/4 zoom (K-mount). The zoom performs quite similarly to the Hanimex wide-open.... whether that means the Takumar-A is really good, or the Hanimex is bad, or I'm just incompetent at focusing... I can't say. |
