welcome sille
like most macro the minolta is a good lens
205g macro 1:2 very good from F5.6
if you want better look for a micro-nikkor

your picture doesn't show because of a anti-spam feature, a moderator will fix it soon

Perhaps it is the same optically as the Minolta AF macro 50/3.5, which also goes to 1:2. More info at Dyxum www.dyxum.com/lenses/detail.asp?IDLens=96

you have 2 scales on the barrel; 1 for 1:2 & 1 for 1:1
that mean the lens go up to 1:2 and with extra accessories to 1:1

Minolta made a sort of macro tubus for this lens. When you use this,
you can go to 1:1 Your maximum aparture will go down to 5,6

Hi, I have one exactly like yours.. it is sitting on my desk awaiting service in my newly created Minolta x700 frankenstein, as it has taken 3 examples to get one working camera.. One had dreaded capacitor failure, the other a bent shutter so I took all three and voila.. a working X700.

The lens is great.. very sharp and very very similar to the Canon FD 50mm 3.5 in nearly all respects.

It is 1:2 as it stands, and you can get a Minolta extension for the lens to take it to 1 - 1 (I just bought my second on Ebay today coincidentally!)

You can also use the Vivitar macro extension which one sometimes finds being sold on ebay (it belonged with their macro lens) and that works fine too.

Best source for lens data on Minoltas is either 'The Rokkor Files'

http://www.rokkorfiles.com

or at

http://members.aol.com/xkaes/slrlens.htm

The ebay item (in case you spot another) was:

Hope this helps?

Doug.

Thanks all, you are great!

Well,- the lens is in the post now, on its way to me. We will see if there is a 1:1 adapter attaced to it, but i doubt it. Anyway it was a great buy, only 29$, I am going to use it on a Olympus E-400 with an adapter, i have a lot of other minolta lenses too, and they work great.

I guess, since this lens only goes to 1:2, it will go til 1:1 on my E-400 since the crop factor is 2?

The 1:2 is relative to the sensor size so it will still be 1:2. It will just be an 100mm 1:2 macro.

The lens only goes to 1:2, you need an extension ring to achieve 1:1.

Some examples are here www.pbase.com/kkawakami/md_macro_50mmf35

This lens is a relatively_rare_made_in_japan_macro_lens which wont easily saturate for a red channel.

By the way this is my first post in MFlenses, although my photos are somehow on the image board. Very Happy
