This light meter takes mercury batteries , new batteries are cheating on result. Mercury adapters can be expensive. I found zinc-air batteries with 1.4 V. Seems works fine as replacement , even if they are smaller than genuine ones.

You can also use this device made by Gossen that allows the use of SR44 batteries which will las much longer than the hearing aid type.

Costs about 20 GBP - a lot for what it is but it may work out more economical in the long run than the hearing aid cells?

Price of hearing aid cells here 2 GB/6 pcs and they are run for a few months.
I can buy 60 pcs of batteries from 20 GBP. 30x 2 months = 60 months = 5 yrs. I guess this is better deal than buy an adapter.

Sounds a better deal - if you reapply the sticker when not using the cell it'll last even longer so you may be looking at nearly ten years.... Laughing

You won't gain any longevity by re-applying the sticker. Reason being is that once the sticker is removed, it starts a chemical process that can't be stopped by reusing the sticker. If you want to extend the life of the batteries, you can apply women's nail polish to 2 of the 4 "air holes" on the battery. This will slow down the initial activation period as well though, so they will take just a little longer to reach full power.....I've been wearing hearing aids in both ears since 1956 & I've loads of experience with all battery types that have been produced . The zinc air being closest in use to the original mercury's that I used....I also use 675 zinc air cells with the shells from 625 cells to use in those applications that use 625 size batteries, but I don't have the shells fitted with diodes to use the silver cells, I just use the Zinc air cells & when you buy them in bulk from a hearing aid supplier, you get a good discount...
