Been some time since i was last on mflenss, but im wondering if anyone has up to date info on the AF confirmation chips?
Im after the kind that can be programmed with EXIF data for focal length and a static f-number (e.g. f.2.8 135mm), so i can identify my lens used in my darktable collection

Info i can find is out of date, mentioning relaible chips sold by certain sellers, from circa 2013

https://forum.mflenses.com/m42-to-eos-with-micro-adjustment-focus-in-emf-chip-t59122,highlight,%2Baf+%2Bchip.html

anyone got a good source of preferably the chip only, but i could spend some and replace the whole adapter as well if thats the only option.

Thanks so much for any leads or assistance

two photos for interest
shot with an FD 200mm f/2.8 shot at 1/125 and grass shot at 1/750; both ISO100 on Canon 30D - likely f/2.8 aperture

Though with another purpose than you have in mind I start with the following:

2021 was the last time I bought these on Ebay, it was the second time I bought them from that seller. They are the most versatile, later firmware type. If used on a Metabones IV the set focal length will be transferred to my Sony A7RII for IBIS and EXIF, the set max. aperture of the lens for EXIF. Although there is of course no linking between the manual aperture setting on the MF lens and the camera aperture setting, if you set them both at the same aperture number, at least the used aperture will be recorded in the image EXIF. That without shifting the exposure which unfortunately happens with the Sigma MC-11, so that feature can not be used on the MC-11. The slope/ramp before the chip contacts which pushes the Metabones IV contact pins in, is a bit steep for that adapter, it works better on the MC-11. I add some epoxy glue before it at a less steep angle so the spring contacts are pressed in more gradually.

https://www.ebay.de/itm/133479309071 still functions I see.

The above is of course more appropriate for a smart adapter + Sony camera but that could be your equipment as well in the future. The EMF AF chips work as intended on the Canon EOS bodies, the extra micro adjustment feature works then as well. You can program that too on the chip.

The programming is not that hard. Compatible cameras for programming: 7D 500D 1000D,450D, 400D, 350D, 300D, 50D, 40D, 30D, 20D, 10D and 5D etc...(except EOS 30, 30V & 33V)

I wondered whether a programmed micro adjustment on the chip would appear in the Sony A7RII EXIF etc. Could not find any entry for that using EXIFtool. Neither in a A7RIV EXIF etc. I guess it only appears there with the Sony adapters with the separate AF sensor used for Sony-Minolta lenses . It could have been a good code to see which vintage MF lens was used and have EXIFtool add the right lens name in the file. Of course no micro adjustment works or is needed in that combo. Right now I use the measured focal length of the vintage MF lens + the max aperture for programming the chip. Gives a bit more info in the 50-55-58mm groups than the beauty ring text info, does not upset IBIS either.
