I took my latest acquisition, said 35mm Nikkor, on a hiking vacation with my wife and her father. Camera was a Nikon D610 because it´s fun with two fistful of camera and the Sony is borrowed to a friend. Interesting place, in medieval times the area was during summertime populated by some 3000 miners, and during the winter months at least a 1000 stayed and continued mining zinc and cobalt. Entrances of dead mines from this age are still visible.

#1 f5.6 1/250s ISO 100

#2 f8 1/100s ISO 100. Alpine Road built by ancient Rome.

#3 f2.8 1/1250s ISO 100. This one´s a crop to about 1/3 of the original 6016 px

#4 f4 1/50s ISO 100

#5 f5.6 1/13s ISO 100. After a short, heavy rain.

#6 f5.6 1/125s ISO 100

#7 f5.6 1/125s ISO 100

#8 f8 1/250s ISO 100

#9 f8 1/100s ISO 100

#10 f8 1/160s ISO 100

#11 f5.6 1/200s ISO 100

#12 f2 1/2000s ISO 100

#13 f5.6 1/160s ISO 100. Taken with the AF-S FX-Nikkor 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 VR at 150mm focal length. Entrances to medieval mines 2300m above sea level and mining waste underneath.

Like 1 Like 1 WOW! Awesome photos of AWESOME places! Thanks for sharing with us lower-dwelling folk who don't get that high so often anymore.

Thank you! Laugh 1

Yeah, this year, for the first time, I felt it too. Age, weight and not enough exercise Wink

We had to think of a way to get my wife´s daddy out for a couple of days. He was and still is an enthusiast alpine hiker and doesn´t like any other way of vacation but he´s feeling his years. So this place is just a 2 hours walk from the parking, and a simple, but beautiful lodge to stay with good food and drink. Since we came up with this idea last year, that´s one thing he´s apparently very much looking forward to. Next year is booked already Wink
Dad takes walks with the dog around the lake, my wife accompanies him or joins me on a hike up one of the peaks in the vicinity. Seems we´ll return at least for a couple more years, I slowly tick off every one of those peaks and compensate for the good food and the few beers every evening the owner of the lodge gladly sells us and that is just too good to be left alone.

That´s the place.

#3 in the set above is pretty nice! I like the soft muted background. ( I don't like the term bokeh much )

Must take a bit of doing getting the breezes to settle in a location like that.
Looks like a very nice lens!

Thanks doc! Center sharpness of this lens is really good even close to wide open aperture.
Thing with the breezes, it´s a question of "slow and steady" - and upon arrival, a beer awaits Wink
