Have some of you had luck and patience to catch the super moon which was visible in the last days? Each time I had a moderately long lens under my hand, it was a tricky moment: either clouds, or morning light. Otherwise, in the city, where the large orange circle was well visible, I had only my mobile phone with me, so wide angle and rather modest low light performance.

Here are my attempts. Have you got a better chance?

#1 Kodak Retinar 2.5/90 on Sony Nex

#2 A 100% crop from the previous

#3 Vivitar 2.8-3.5/28-90 Series 1 on Sony Nex

Even closer (thus slightly larger) supermoon is promised to come this year on
Sep 18: 222,131 miles (357,485 kilometers)
Oct 17: 222,055 miles (357,363 kilometers)

So, further opportunities to catch!

LUNAR OCCULTATION OF SATURN: This morning along a path of totality stretching from South America to Europe, sky watchers saw the full Moon swallow Saturn. The lunar occultation lasted more than 45 minutes and produced some very rare photos of ringed Saturn near the cratered edge of the Moon. Browse the gallery!

Wow, the supermoon which swallows Saturn sounds a jungle story!

And you've made a nice shot!

thanks, i took this shot in a hurry , besides i am neither expert in astrophotography , but funny enough how better shots can be taken with a real camera than a phone camera especially for the moon; i might be wrong with some very special expensive phones though, but that is not my case, a very normal smart phone is just enough lol.

i took pics of the moon with the A6000 and A7II with rokkor 80cm and 2x vivitar , but i guess best result were from FF(deals better ISO); i assume the saturn and the moon shots were taken apart and stick it together , as the dof even for the moon on a 1600mm is pretty thin, the guy took that shot with 2600mm so dof should be much thinner. The only pics i took of saturn are visible amplifying the image 100% , but don´t recall if that time i´ve used the 2x vivitar or not. The movement of the moon shooting on +800mm is pretty fast , even this f8 lens it still has a thin dof, probably another combo would do better, but it wouldn´t be on my budget .

Pretty much my experience as well. I had not known that the lunar transit was that fast. Saturn's transit is even quicker. I've had very little luck with Saturn, with just semi-visible rings and a smeary blob for the planet it's self.

i am not sure how good A7S bodies are, i mean you can go ISO no matter how high without noise¿
