I recently acquired this lens as a parts piece because of fungus.
I had a project in mind for it which would benefit from low contrast and soft images.

When it arrived, I discovered that the infected areas were relatively easy to clean, and not being able to help myself, I went ahead and cleaned the lens.
It performs rather well in the few shots that I have taken with it.
Here are some shot at widest aperture, with the last at f11.
Komuras seem to love red!

have a bunch of komura preset teles now (135/200/300), always pleasantly surprised by the rendering (16-blade aperture doesnt hurt!), this one seems nice as well

Yes, for a very early 28mm lens this one does rather well.
The Komura 35mm f2.5 is also excellent and there is a 24mm I am keen to try.
Their short teles are wonderful - 100mm and 105mm render beautifully.
The 135's are all excellent from my experience.
I don't have any Komura longer in 35mm format

I've had one of these for a few years, Minolta mount, and it's just not sharp at all. I keep trying it - hoping it's magically healed itself Rolling Eyes - but I think it's got a decentered element or something. It's in my repair box - is it an easy lens to strip down Tom ? It looks as though its worth fixing.


This is the best of a series of test shots at different apertures on my Sony A7II. I focused about halfway along the building, but nothing is sharp. I think this was f11 ?

These komura suffer from sticky olades and probably your's got some oil on the glass, you should check em (all of the komura I've gote to, had same issues, just like some MC rokkors).

Mine only needed fungus clean inside the back elements block and that comes off easily in one piece. The front element is only held in place by the name bezel and is an easy clean as well.
Fortunately I didn't have to go any further, but the lens looks uncomplicated to me
I have a suspicion that this lens performs best at close distance, and I haven't shot vistas with it yet - been too wet. I'll shoot some today and see.

Some quick downtown snaps show that the lens is capable at distance as well.
All up, I think it is a pretty good package.

Nicely done Tom. #3 is right up my street. Did you catch a shaft of light or is there a bit of pp ? Whatever, it's lovely.

Number 3 is just a shaft of light and exposure for the flower - no PP except RAW to .jpg
We are lucky to have had some rain lately - the garden looked very sad a few weeks ago

Not a great picture, but another from the garden, changed to mono in LR.
The lens is a surprise.
I was not expecting this level of sharpness from it.
In fact I wanted something softer and more painterly, and bought it for that.
It is a much better lens than I imagined it would be

Hi Sergey,
The Konica is sharper with higher contrast than my Komura, and may be the better all round lens.
I bought the Komura for some softer pastel shots that I was shooting for a project, and because I like the look of the images from the Komura primes.
They were once very cheap lenses, I'm not sure what Komuras go for these days.
If you want that look, the Komuras are great, but the Hexanon would most likely give you snappier images
