Hello everybody
Can any one help me with identification. I have Vivitar Series 1 70-210/3.5 with an unknown for me lens mount It has a pure manual aperture control and marks giving an assumption it was custom converted but the mount looks a factory made. I want to adapt it to M42 of Pentax mount but out of pure curiosity before I remove it I want to know what it was.

Doesn't look like any of the mounts the lens was made in. This one looks particularly dirty. I would look for another copy.

I think that is Edixa Rex but I can't swear to it. When I get a chance I will check as I have one at home.

Thank you for the input jamaeolus and D1N0
It resembles Edixa REX

but I think it is different.
The lens is as I purchased it, no serious dirt, fungus or scratch only minor issues.

Looks like this Contarex mount:

The mount it was adapted from should still be on the lens near the macro toggle (white button) It says "Lens made in Japan Patents pending" and the the mount type "P/K" for Pentax on mine.

Agree. These lenses are common and cheap. The time and effort that would go into the lens would be far greater than the expense of a good one.

Hello woodrim I should have cleaned it before taking pictures, sorry.
D1N0, it has U, so it was Universal Mount (M42).

I'm lost. Surely the way that rear element protrudes from the rear isn't normal. I think there's still a snake in the haystack.

Is it possible that the mount is missing, and that this is the mating surface for the mount.
It looks to be not a normal protrusion of the rear element as Woodrim has said

According to this info: https://www.graphics.cornell.edu/~westin/misc/mounts-by-register.html
Contarex register distance is 46 mm, comparable to that of M42 mount.
Below detail of Vivitar Series1 70-210/3.5 with M42 mount. Taking into account that the modified lens has no threaded flange it also protrudes to a certain, comparable degree.
D1N0 we were posting almost the same time Smile

I need help yet again, I just got this lens and I can not identify the mount. The lens is a telesar hi-d 40-85 3.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That looks like an M42 screw lens with an M42 to Pentax K adapter screwed on.

It is fixed mount with manual or auto aperture pin.

I would love to try this lens but I have no idea about the mount.

I'd agree with heritagecameras. Looks like a m42 to PK adapter screwed on a M42 mount.
Try to grab the chromed mount only and unscrew it by hand.

It is permanent fixed mount , I have removed the three screws and that is all that is there.

I think you misundestood. Leave the three screws. Read carefully:

If you can't get a good grip on the adapter, try using a PK rear lens cap to get extra leverage.

It may have been put on with thread lock. I did that to the first of my M42 lenses back in the 80's
