A 1983 beast built by Sun. I never saw this one in real life so when i encountered it on the photo-fair in Doesburg i added it to my collection of old telegiants.

Mounted on my Panny G85 it looks something like this

A huge lens with a surprise, it won't get longer or shorter when you turn the zoom ring. Built quality is still good for it's age. Focussing takes some getting used to.

First exercise on an object that won't run or fly away

At 400mm

At 650mm

First conclusion after some more exercises like this: Performs above expectations, contrast gets a bit lower on the range past 500mm but for an old lens still more than acceptable. Let's meet some birds and probably a dragonfly

Used to AF-lenses, some birds try to hide.

Focussing is slow and the size and mass of the giant require it to rest on whatever is present to let it rest on but hey, it works

With a 4 meters MFD it can even handle dragonflies

Conclusion after first exercises : Performs above expectations, it will see some more action the coming time.

Some lens designer was definitely on the ball that morning.
I especially like the strap lug on the tripod collar.
Might be a worthwhile idea to use it, just in case. Wink

Nice imagery for a third party lens.
I am impressed!

It's a Green Sandpiper (Tringa ochropus)
