I still chuckle every time small format (24x36mm) is called "Full Format"

I don't think I've ever seen it referred to as small format before - 'Miniature format' yes loads of places, but then the largest size I use these days doesn't quite make it to half plate.

You could try relabelling FF to '1/30 plate' but I doubt it would catch on.

KB = KleinBild translated to Spanish as "formato pequeño" (how I learnt it)

That sort of fits in with micro 4/3, although there is also 4/3 which has the same size of sensor.

Sony has patented a 54 x 36 mm sensor with 247MP. But of course the really big stuff is done by NASA. SLAC is 2 feet across and the array constitutes 3,200MP. Take that 8x10 filmers!

Yes, the 8x10 26mp sensor is the largest known.

The SLAC sensor consists of 189 much smaller individual 16-megapixel sensors.
