I like the idea.

I have initiated a thread along the same lines in the French forum "Chasseur d'images" if you want to have a look.

Minolta MD ZOOM 24-35mm f/3.5

A useful tiny zoom when stopped down a bit; especially when combined with the MD ZOOM 75-150mm f/4 a great lightweight travel package if like me you are not bothered by the 35-75mm gap in focal lengths.

The Colonnade, Bexhill, East Sussex, UK. Minolta MD ZOOM 24-35mm f/3.5 (at 24mm, either f/8 or f/11, on SONY A7S)

Interesting idea. For personal practicality for me, not so much, since I very rarely need to go wider than 35mm.
If it works well for you, great!
Nice shot, btw! Like 1 small Like 1 small

Try a 20mm (or 21mm, that is). It opens up quite a few new possibilities, especially whem combining the surroundings with an interesting foreground. Nikon has a few pretty nice 20mm MF lenses: the original Nikkor 3.5/20mm, the later (small) 4/20mm and Ai 3.5/20mm, and of course the well known AiS 2.8/20mm.

@ RokkorDoctor: The inconspicous MD 3.5/24-35mm, tested on 43 MP FF, is as good as famous Canon 3.5/20-345mm L @ f=28mm and f=35mm. At f=24mm, as one might expect, the Canon 3.5/20-35mm L has better corners. It would be interesting to see how the Canon 3.5/24-35mm L compares to the Minota MD 3.5/24-35mm ...

I had a chance at the original, almost a year ago. It was not A/I converted, and I couldn't bring myself up to buying it, and converting it myself... It was complete with the original bullet case, but to my mind one of those lenses that should be left in original configuration, and not messed with. The price was with-in my affordability range, just by a nostril hair.
I still think I called that one right, by not buying it. I don't think I ever agonized over a lens that much before...

Funny how we all have different preferences; for me things get interesting below 35mm down to 17mm and even fish-eye.

In my early days of photography I would have focal length anxiety and carried way too much stuff. Experience taught me that between 35mm and 75mm a change in camera position is often (not always, but often) a viable alternative to changing lenses or FL.
